Paper Mosaics

DETAIL: TRIPLE FUCHSIAS The slightly textured terra cotta paper and the white and brown and grey marbled papers were used to create this paper mosaic.

“TRIPLE FUCHSIAS” executed as a paper mosaic. Fuchsias tile designs printed in blue, the background excised and then mounted on Italian terra cotta marbled textured paper and backing board “tesserae” This work is finished by installation in a shadowbox frame with the same tesserae acting as stretchers.

“THE ROTAS SQUARE” Examples of this Latin palindrome have been found throughout the areas that constituted the Roman Empire. Its origins are disputed, but it is agreed that it was regarded as mystically significant by many cultures over a lengthy period of time.
